A Minor, Gone was written for the Spring 2012 Composers Recital at Crafton Hills College that I was unable to attend and, like Minimal Twelve, I do not have a live recording of the piece. A Minor, Gone, as the title suggests is composed in A Minor but it is much more. A Minor, Gone tells the story of a young boy who sets out on an errand with his father one summer morning only to be tragically killed in an automobile accident. This Story composition musically recreates the event using the Piano Trio Ensemble; Violin, Cello, and Piano.
I never actually met the boy to whom this piece is dedicated but I did bear witness to the aftermath and saw the terrible power of grief destroy the family he left behind. It is a theme I explore in much more depth in my in-process novel entitled Tears in the Morning.
